For years, I chased success, believing that the next milestone, the next deal, or the next win would finally make me feel whole. I worked relentlessly, pushing forward, building businesses, achieving things I once only dreamed of—yet, in the quiet moments, I felt empty. The more I accomplished, the thirstier I became. Success didn’t quench it. Money didn’t fulfill it. I was running on empty, trying to fill a void with things that could never satisfy me.
"I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak." (Ezekiel 34:16)
I’ve spent nearly a decade in the technology staffing and professional services industry, helping businesses find top talent and deliver cutting-edge technical solutions. I take pride in delivering for my clients, helping them build strong teams and scale their businesses. But now, I see it more clearly than ever—what I’ve built at TekRecruiter isn’t just for business. It’s for people. And not just the ones we place or hire, but also the ones we are forced to pass over—the ones who need guidance, the ones who are too junior, the ones who just need a chance.
My God-given purpose in life is to help people get jobs. Not just people in tech. Not just those who fit neatly into the openings our business fills. I am still building, still growing, still pushing forward—but this time, as a man who is born again, a man of purpose.
This blog is my journey, my faith, and my commitment to using everything I’ve learned and everything I’ve built to help people—not just businesses. Because for the first time in my life, I am truly fulfilled.

The Reality of Recruiting – What Most People Get Wrong

For almost a decade, I’ve been in the staffing and recruiting industry. I’ve had great success, but I’ve always been baffled by how people perceive our industry. It’s a huge misconception. So many people genuinely believe that recruiters are here to help people find jobs. I can’t count the number of times candidates assume what we do is personally looking for jobs for them. This is not the case for the majority of staffing and recruiting firms.
Recruiting is about finding the right talent for a company’s needs—ensuring businesses get the best people to drive success. That’s what we do at TekRecruiter. I love my clients and take pride in delivering for them. We add value by maximizing their time, improving hiring efficiency, and fueling their businesses with the best tech talent. But with that comes the reality—I’ll admit, we eliminate so many individuals along the way. I’ve worked with over 1,000,000 candidates in my career, and the majority never get placed. Not because they aren’t qualified, but because they weren’t aligned. More often than not, recruiters spend their time delivering "not a fit" responses instead of "you're hired."
As a business owner, I've interviewed so many people I never hired, and let's not start with the number of people I have had to fire. And what about the people who have truly helped me the most, my hiring managers who entrust us with the opportunity of adding value to their organizations? They are candidates too. No one is secured in any job. What are we as an industry doing to help them? Without them, we wouldn’t exist. Are we there for them when they get laid off? We should be!
For years, I accepted this as just how the world of business works. Meanwhile, I see the pain of the unemployed, the sadness of the laid-off across every industry and skill set—tech or non-tech, it doesn’t matter.
Changing the Game – Making Jobs More Accessible

TekRecruiter will always be a business focused on helping companies build incredible tech teams. I love my clients, I love delivering for them, and I take pride in the efficiency we bring to their hiring processes. But I also know that business success isn’t my only purpose anymore.
God has called me to help people get jobs—everyone—and I believe I am the right man for the job. That means creating new innovative ways for people to connect with opportunities, without seeking any type of financial incentive from companies or candidates. No matter the skill set, I'm focused on helping people get jobs—period—which also helps our economy. This means making sure every job seeker has access to real guidance, mentorship, and connections at no cost.
And so, I’m using everything I’ve built—my network, my experience, and my resources—to make that happen.
Revolutionizing Recruiting with Social Recruiting & Technology. Reaching the New Generation with - TikTok
There is a new young generation of job seekers who are struggling the most at finding opportunities. I aim to revolutionize recruiting by connecting with this network where they are. As a millennial, I will never fully understand what this obsession with TikTok is with our Gen Z population, but what I do know is that as a society, we must adapt to the times and help them. LinkedIn, Indeed, CareerBuilder, and Monster are all paid job platforms that don’t directly engage this audience. They don’t teach how to break into tech, how to put together a winning resume, or how to stand out in interviews. They don’t guide career changers, new grads, or self-taught professionals on how to transition into tech roles.
That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’ve started directly training people through my TikTok (@ronsmith.official), walking them step by step through what it takes to break into tech and actually land a job.
Through my personal TikTok page I’m teaching job seekers how to structure their LinkedIn profiles, how to build tech-specific resumes, and how to navigate the hiring process with confidence. But beyond that, I’m training them as professionals—helping them think like the best in tech, understand industry trends, and become top candidates in their fields.
